On June 4th we celebrated the last day of 1st and 4th grade! It was a great day, as we were done with our trimester of remote learning. The kids had zoom meetings from the park and I made them do the end of year pictures. Both kids are taller, with longer hair.
It was a long an exciting year for both of them. Liam was in Room 4 with Ms. Dowd, who had a baby during the pandemic, but still managed to have daily recording for the kids to watch to learn reading and writing and math.
The year had many fun field trips, like the Hiller Aviation Museum and a Palo Alto Children's Theater play, Click Clack Moo.
Liam did an in class presentations on his writing, including his story "All about Bob," which was about his grandpa.
The class traveled the world during the holidays learning traditions from around the world.
He had two buddies from 4th grade, who he would meet with regularly.
It was a fun class who all enjoyed learning new things.
I was not the biggest fan of his school picture, but he did have a nice Auction picture to remember 1st grade by.
Elsa was in room 12 with Ms. Bramlett. The class had a number of fun in class plays about animals and the missions.
But I think she liked her after school play (James and the Giant Peach, she was one of the aunts) more.
She had a field trip to Mission San Juan Bautista.
She started the year by describing herself with 3 items, which included a love of Tie-Dye.
Every day her class lined up in clear lines before being let in.
She enjoyed the science lessons, like having a fish;
Dissecting a squid;
Learning about plants;
And learning about all the regions of California geography.
For social science, she learned about Arne's journey to California (from Tennessee) and shared this with the class.
And the class celebrated the importance of Unity.
Her school and Auction pictures were fun.
It was a great year, but we are definitely ready for SUMMER!
