End of Summer Fun

August was a great month of local fun for the family. The highlight of the month for me was cutting Elsa's hair for the first time.

We had two trips to Gilroy Gardens to check out and enjoy old favorite rides, like the duck boats, and also enjoy the new water play park.

Arne's Oasis Volleyball team continues to be fun.
I spent a week in Brazil for work, which included a lot of great food and then went sailing on the bay with a work team.

We are lucky to have kids who just enjoy creating wonderful new things, with whatever they have around them. When I was in Brazil, milk spilled on the sofa cushions and then Arne took the cushions off the sofa. Elsa then bounced on the sofa and made the cushions into a fun roller coaster with Liam.

The next week, Elsa took all the couch cushions and made a rocket ship that she spent several days playing with, as Space Girl, the rocket engineer.

Elsa also came up with a new dance she called the shadow dance, that her imaginary friends Hala and Sala taught her.

The kids enjoyed a lot of time at the park.  Elsa is getting good at the monkey bars and jumping off the rock. Liam loves the sand.

Elsa loved flying a kite at the beach, while Liam just enjoys sand.
Arne and his dad are going to build Liam a sandbox, so Liam helped Daddy shop for lots of sand.
Liam's latest cute thing is grabbing a bottle of milk and then going to the couch and making a cozy nest.
It is fun to see the happy and frowny expressions of the kids.

They are starting to really play together and that is a lot of fun to watch. It is also fun to participate in, like watching them make street art at the Palo Alto Art & Wine fair.
We particularly enjoyed one evening when they fell asleep as we biked to dinner.  After a hectic month, it was nice to have time together.
