Mommy-Liam Weekend

This last weekend, Liam and I headed out on a special Mommy-Liam weekend.  I have done a number of Girl Scout and other camping weekends with Elsa, so Liam really wanted special time with Mommy.  On Saturday morning, we drove down to Santa Cruz and the Beach Boardwalk. Liam loves going on rides.

It was a limited ride Sunday, so after an hour and a half of rides, and a churro, we headed over to our hotel, the brand new Hyatt Place Santa Cruz. Liam was very excited to go swimming in the hotel pool.

My sister Amanda then joined us at the pool, then back in our room for some LEGO time.  Liam was very excited to make some fun LEGO sets.

After LEGO making, we headed out for pizza.

After eating too much Pizza, it was back to the Cabin, Liam's name for a hotel room, for some Disney Jr. on the TV then sleep.

Liam ended up sleeping for 12 hours.  We then got one of his favorite breakfasts, brown sugar with some oatmeal.

After a short swim, we then headed up to Roaring Camp for a train adventure.

 Liam loved watching the blacksmith.

It was exciting to explore the area, and then head up into the redwoods on a steam train.

Liam, was not excited about me taking so many pictures of him.

He did like taking a picture of me and our stop at bear mountain.

Once back from the train ride we headed home.  It was a wonderful weekend of special Mommy-Liam time.

Ski Weekend 2018

This year we returned to the Serene Lakes with Julia and Ken for another fun ski weekend.
It was so nice to watch the kids play together.  They made a snowman, played with the neighbor's dog, and generally explored.
There was not nearly as much snow as last year, but that did not stop Elsa and Liam from ski lessons and going on a bunch of runs with Mommy.
Arne and I also got to enjoy the hills.  It was clear there was not a lot of snow.
After skiing, there was a little sliding hill.  It was great to watch the kids play together and go up and down it.
We had a lot of fun up in the cabin.  Elsa and I got matching french braids by Julia.
The kids played lots of LEGOS and also enjoyed Arne's photo time!
Then on the way home, we stopped by Fenton's at the Nut Tree and had some fun time in the park. What a great weekend!

New Year Fun!

We spent the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 in Santa Monica.  It was great to come back one year later to the traveling rings and see how Elsa has improved.  She can now do the big rings, back and forth, 3 times.

She also leaned some tricks from others - like twirling at the end of the rings.

Another highlight was visiting with friends.  Arne's friend George from college came by to hang out with us.

My friend Sarah brought her son Leandro and also came by to hang out and play with us.
My kids decided to run through the water and get super wet.  It was fun to watch.

What a great way to end and start a new year.
