April Activities

In April we went back to the Sacramento Train Museum.

We took the train excursion ride.

Liam enjoyed the toy train sets again.

We walked around old Sacramento and saw the same street performer we saw in November. He put on the song "Let It Go". Perhaps he noticed Elsa's name.

There is an old one-room school house. Elsa sat in one of the desks.

She didn't sit for long.

We took a horse carriage ride. I always like those.

Back in Palo Alto there were scooter races in the patio.

We went to Berkeley one weekend. Elsa's climbing my apple tree.

The other apple varieties grafted on last year are doing well this year. Some have flowers.

There was a beautiful sunset that night.

Easter 2016

We had a wonderful family Easter weekend this year.  On Saturday, after their morning classes, Elsa and Liam participated in the Menlo Park Egg Hunt.
This was put on by the Fire Department and Liam loved checking out the fire trucks.
On Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny filled their baskets with treats.  The highlights were ears, an egg with a Hex NanoBug and the egg they put in water to hatch.
We then headed to Berkeley for the FCCB Church Egg Hunt and time with Bob and Julie.
After Church, it was time for Brunch at Kristin's house with Auntie Amanda and an egg hunt out back.

A great Easter was had by all!

Ski Weekend

This year there is snow in the mountains! We headed up to Pinecrest lake and the Pinecrest Chalet for a ski weekend with my friend Julia's family.  Upon arrival, all the kids hunkered down around Liam's Kindle to watch Kipper the Dog.
Saturday morning we headed 2 miles up the road to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort and the kids first day of skiing lessons. Elsa did great and by the end of the day was able to "pizza" down a hill.

Liam had fun, although cannot really do much on skis all by himself.  He seemed to like snowballs a bit more.
After a day of skiing, it was great hanging out in the cabin.

The kids loved playing outside in the snow. They found fun things to do like collect icicles.
Sunday was sunny and bright and we headed up for day 2 of skiing.  Liam had an early lesson.
Then Arne and I headed up the mountain for some skiing of our own.

After lessons, I took the kids on their first chair lift ride.  Liam was very excited.
Elsa was able to go by herself down part of the mountain.
It was great to have the kids enjoy skiing.
Although, after the long day, Arne and I really just wanted to sleep.

Monday morning, we woke up to snow falling.  It blanketed the area and made for fun snow play for Elsa.
It also gave us a chance to check out the winter wonderland of Pinecrest Lake, with no water, only snow.
We had a wonderful vacation.
