After several months of sheltering at home, on June 29th we headed south to Avila Beach in the Central Coast, between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach, for 5 nights at the Avila Beach Lighthouse Suites. It was nice to be able to hear the waves as we hung out in our room and explored around the tiny beach town. We were able to use the pool and had a lot of fun playing in the water.
We had boogie boards, so several times we headed out to check out the waves. Liam loved it, until he got flipped a few times by big waves.
Elsa liked to show off her new flexibility and gymnastics skills.
One of the mornings, Arne took Elsa for surfing lessons. She was a natural according to Stu.
I just took Liam out boogie boarding again.
Sometimes we got takeout and ate outside at the hotel.
Arne and Elsa like to go on walks to explore.
One night, Arne and I got to go out to dinner. It was an outdoor treat.
On Thursday morning, we went on a sea kayak outing. We saw sea lion, seals, sea otters and nudibranch (sea slugs). We kayaked out to the old lighthouse, which was cool to see.

The hardest part was getting Arne's wet suit pants off!
Arne also enjoyed trying to boogie board.
Liam and I liked playing in the sand.
Arne and I would go for evening walks, and get ice cream.

On the 4th, out vacation was over, and we headed back, with one small stop to explore a bit near a railroad.
It was nice to have a bit of holiday fun away from home.

And during morning walks we would see sand art.
Our last night Liam lost his tooth (I pulled it out), which was very exciting.
